Tax Credit Processing Extended

Up to 180,000 buyers who met the contract deadline of April 30 were in risk of not being able to close their loans by July 1. The Senate voted to extend the closing deadline to Sep 30th.

'Safe Act'

Implementation of federal legislation known as the SAFE Act would have made several changes to sellers that offer financing to prospective buyers. At the urging of REALTORS, the commissioner of the Texas Dept of Savings and Mortgage Lending, has taken significant steps to allow Texas property owners to continue to seller finance up to five transactions in a 12-month period.

Tax Credits produced a busy market

With the Federal Stimulus tax credits for first-time buyers and repeat buyers owning a home for 5 years created strong actvity through April 30th (2010). Those buyers must have their property sales closed by July 1, 2010.

Ada Glenn's Memorial Service

Ada Marie Webster Glenn, 90, left this world on Saturday, July 18, 2009, to join her husband, Dr. James C. Glenn, and eldest grandson, James G. Glenn. Ada was born December 1, 1918, the sixth of seven children to Earl Eugene and Percy Jane Slocum Webster. She was born and grew up in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and returned to Bartlesville to work for Phillips Petroleum where she met and married James C. Glenn in 1941. When her husband returned following World War II, they lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, while he attended medical school. His career took them to San Francisco, California, Dalhart, Texas, and Denver, Colorado before they settled in Amarillo in 1958.

Ada’s career took off in 1960 when she founded Ada Glenn, Realtors. She became a household name with her slogan “Ada Sold Mine!”. She was also an enthusiastic supporter of her children’s activities, including den mothering her sons' Cub Scout pack and coaching their softball team.

Ada had many interests and was enthusiastic about all she did. She had a love for gadgets of all kinds, especially computers, from the first personal computers to a never-ending string of desktops and laptops. She used e-mail and Internet video programs to remain close to her far-flung family. Ada was an avid RV traveler, taking many trips alone and with family and friends. She had an active social life and enjoyed her many wonderful friends. She was a delight to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they delighted her, often repeating her catch phrase "No hubbub!”.

Ada is survived by her children: Stephen Glenn and wife Mariglyn of Friendswood, Texas; Norman Glenn and wife Gail of Aiea, Hawaii; Carolyn Shaw and husband John of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Greg Glenn and wife Kathy of Amarillo, Texas. She is survived by her grandchildren Jim Shaw, Ron Glenn, Stuart Glenn, Michael Shaw, Christopher Glenn, Jeffery Glenn, Jennifer Huntington, Elise Jasso, and Andrew Glenn. She is survived by great-grandchildren Parker Glenn, Noel Glenn, Elizabeth Glenn, Catherine Glenn, McCormick Shaw, Andréa Jasso, and Claire Glenn. She is also survived by her youngest brother Alan (Bud) Webster of Apple Valley, California.

The family is deeply grateful to Minnie Ceballos who provided help and companionship. The family also thanks her caregivers: Lisa, Brinda, Victoria, and Lupita and Hospice Care of the Southwest.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2525 Wimberly Dr., Amarillo, Texas.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the James G. Glenn Foundation, 5111 Encino Ct., Friendswood, Texas 77546 or the Downtown Women’s Center, 409 S. Monroe, Amarillo, Texas 79101.

Ryan Palmer Foundation Golf Tourament
